What Are Polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are the latest innovation storming the injectables scene. Polynucleotide treatments emerge as a scientifically-backed solution, offering a new dimension in aesthetic medicine. Polynucleotides – or injectable bio- stimulators are an innovative treatment for skin rejuvenation, wrinkle reduction, and enhanced skin quality. Polynucleotides have been used in the NHS for over 20 years to aid in healing wounds, damaged skin, and scar tissue. This advanced treatment transcends conventional anti-ageing methods by not only addressing visible signs but also enhancing the intrinsic health of your skin. With Polynucleotide treatments, you embark on a journey towards enhanced skin vitality, experiencing a naturally youthful and revitalised complexion.
Why We Choose PLINEST® by Mastelli
Here at Serenity Beauty Clinic, we love to bring you the best and after much research we are excited to offer a premium solution for skin rejuvenation PLINEST® which contains the highest concentration of polynucleotides on the market. The polynucleotides in the Mastelli Aesthetics range are highly purified and then sterilised using patented technology. PLINEST® is made from Polynucleotides (PN), a DNA fragment extracted from Italian Trout Fish using patented extraction and purification process, HPTTM (Highly Purified Technology) by Mastelli, Italy. The purification process removes all protein molecules so there is no risk of allergy. The science is evidenced based and there are 90 published scientific papers demonstrating safety and efficacy, and 34 randomised comparative trials. 70 years of long research was done in order to obtain a pure ingredient without pharmacologically and allergically active protein contaminants, resulting in excellent safety and superior efficacy of the product.
How Do Polynucleotides Work?
Once injected, the DNA fragments are slowly absorbed into your skin, once integrated within your skin, they start signaling your skin in 3 main ways. Firstly, they stimulate fibroblast cells to multiply in number and boost their activity. As cell renewal improves, so will collagen production, hydration levels, and skin glow. Your skin becomes more resilient with improved elasticity and wrinkles start diminishing. Secondly, they are incredible antioxidants that scavenge free radicals that would normally set off cellular damage. Thirdly, they function as wound healing agents signaling your skin to intensely repair. Additionally, polynucleotides produce a mild increase in volume and tightening as an overall effect. The result of treatment depends on a variety of factors. Firstly, the degree of your skin ageing prior to the treatment. Secondly, your skin’s ability to regenerate good quality tissue when stimulated. Thirdly, your lifestyle.
What Are The Benefits Of Polynucleotides?
Stimulation of Collagen and Elastin Production: Polynucleotides promote the synthesis of collagen and elastin fibresin the skin. Collagen provides structural support and elasticity, while elastin allows the skin to stretch and recoil. By stimulating the production of these proteins, polynucleotides may help improve skin firmness, texture, and resilience, leading to a more youthful appearance.
Tissue Regeneration and Repair: Polynucleotides have been studied for their regenerative properties., which may facilitate tissue repair and regeneration. When injected into the skin , they can promote the growth of new blood vessels and enhance migration of fibroblasts and keratinocyes leading to accelerated wound healing and tissue remodeling. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals undergoing cosmetic procedures or seeking to address scars, fine lines, and other signs of aging
Hydration and Moisture Retention: Injectable polynucleotides have hydrating properties that can help improve skin hydration and moisture retention. By attracting water molecules and enhancing the skin’s natural barrier function, they can combat dryness, dehydration, and roughness, leaving the skin feeling smooth, supple, and rejuvenated.
Reduction of Fine Lines and Wrinkles: As a result of their collagen-stimulating effects and tissue regeneration properties, injectable polynucleotides may help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles.
Improvement of Skin Texture and Tone: Polynucleotides can contribute to smoother, more radiant skin by promoting cell turnover and supporting the formation of new, healthy tissue. This can help address concerns such as roughness, uneven pigmentation, and dullness, resulting in a more even complexion and improved skin texture. Additionally, their ability to enhance blood circulation can further enhance skin tone and vitality
Reduction of Inflammation and Redness: Polynucleotides possess anti-inflammatory properties that can help calm and soothe irritated or inflamed skin. By modulating the inflammatory response and promoting tissue repair, they may alleviate symptoms such as redness, swelling, and sensitivity, making them suitable for individuals with conditions such as rosacea, acne, or dermatitis.
Long-lasting Results: Injectable polynucleotides are believed to provide long-lasting results, as they stimulate cellular processes and promote tissue regeneration from within. Unlike some skincare treatments that offer only temporary benefits, polynucleotide injections can help maintain their effects over time, supporting ongoing skin rejuvenation and maintenance. This makes them a valuable option for individuals seeking sustained improvement in skin quality and appearance.
How Is The Treatment Carried Out?
Polynucleotides are injected very superficially into your skin via two methods. In some cases, it may be injected with very tiny needles leaving tiny blebs on the surface. These blebs can disappear over a few hours but may remain for longer in some people. Alternatively, a blunt-ended tube, cannula, may be used to spread the product evenly.
Treatment Areas
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
To achieve optimal results, a course of polynucleotide treatment is recommended. A course of 3-4 treatments spaced 2-3 weeks apart and maintenance every 6 months but this may depend on your skin condition. They can be incorporated into other treatments and individual results vary.
When Will I See Results?
As polynucleotides work at a cellular level you will see results after a few weeks. Although you may notice some improvement after 2-3 weeks, the full effect is only visible at 3 months.
Can This Treatment Be Used Alongside other Treatments?
Absolutely! In fact, we often recommend it for best results. You can pair polynucleotide treatment with anti-wrinkle injections, dermal filler, Profhilo or Radio Frequency as we find that combination treatments yield the best results. They work synergistically, amplifying benefits and often leading to more comprehensive and noticeable improvements in skin texture.
How Are Polynucleotides Different To Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are usually made from a synthetic version of hyaluronic acid and act as ‘implants’ in the skin to volumise, hydrate and improve skin folds, wrinkles etc. Whilst dermal fillers can be amazing for some skin concerns there are occasions when a dermal filler is not the right choice and polynucleotides are more appropriate. For example, many people seek tear trough treatment for a tired, hollow undereye area but they may not be suitable for dermal filler. This may be because the hollowness is not deep enough, or the skin is too thin, they have dark circles or they have some under eye puffiness. So for these individuals who are not suitable for tear trough treatment, polynucleotide treatment may be much more appropriate. Another example would be someone who had some skin laxity (loose skin) but does not require volumisation – polynucleotide treatment would help to firm and restore the skin without the addition of unnecessary volume.
What Is The Difference Between Polynucleotides And Profhilo?
When it comes to choosing between polynucleotides and Profhilo, it boils down to specific skin concerns and desired outcomes. If your primary goal is to improve skin hydration, texture, and to achieve an overall rejuvenated look, Profhilo might be the better choice. Its high hyaluronic acid content is excellent for hydrating and subtly lifting the skin.
However, if your focus is on skin repair, regeneration, and tackling more pronounced signs of ageing like deeper wrinkles, scarring, rosacea, and loss of elasticity, polynucleotides might be more beneficial. They are particularly adept at stimulating the skin’s natural repair processes, leading to a more youthful and revitalised appearance. Unlike Profhilo, they can also be used to tackle concerns around the eyes including dark circles, crepey eyelids and mild hollowing.
Downtime
You may notice small bumps at the injection sites while the product is absorbed – this is normal and subsides within a day or two. If you are having your neck treated, the bumps may last a little longer as skin there is thinner. You may also experience mild redness, tenderness or itching temporarily. With any injection, there is a small risk of post-treatment bruising or slight swelling at injection points however, as we inject so superficially, this is minimal. For 12-24 hours you may have visible bumps in the skin. Pin prick marks/scabs may take 5 days to resolve. Bruising can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. Though make-up can be worn the next day.
