Polynucleotides are injected very superficially into your skin via two methods. In some cases, it may be injected with very tiny needles leaving tiny blebs on the surface. These blebs can disappear over a few hours but may remain for longer in some people. Alternatively, a blunt-ended tube, cannula, may be used to spread the product evenly.

How Are Polynucleotides Different To Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are usually made from a synthetic version of hyaluronic acid and act as ‘implants’ in the skin to volumise, hydrate and improve skin folds, wrinkles etc. Whilst dermal fillers can be amazing for some skin concerns there are occasions when a dermal filler is not the right choice and polynucleotides are more appropriate. For example, many people seek tear trough treatment for a tired, hollow undereye area but they may not be suitable for dermal filler. This may be because the hollowness is not deep enough, or the skin is too thin, they have dark circles or they have some under eye puffiness. So for these individuals who are not suitable for tear trough treatment, polynucleotide treatment may be much more appropriate. Another example would be someone who had some skin laxity (loose skin) but does not require volumisation – polynucleotide treatment would help to firm and restore the skin without the addition of unnecessary volume.

What Is The Difference Between Polynucleotides And Profhilo?

When it comes to choosing between polynucleotides and Profhilo, it boils down to specific skin concerns and desired outcomes. Downtime

You may notice small bumps at the injection sites while the product is absorbed – this is normal and subsides within a day or two. If you are having your neck treated, the bumps may last a little longer as skin there is thinner. You may also experience mild redness, tenderness or itching temporarily. With any injection, there is a small risk of post-treatment bruising or slight swelling at injection points however, as we inject so superficially, this is minimal. For 12-24 hours you may have visible bumps in the skin. Pin prick marks/scabs may take 5 days to resolve. Bruising can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. Though make-up can be worn the next day.
